LATEST BOOSTER'S MEETING MINUTES


Bourbon County Band Booster Meeting
August 15, 2011

President Tamara Johnson called meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The Treasurer’s Report was distributed by Heather Sparks and approved by common consent. The Secretary’s Report was distributed by Rene Turley and approved by common consent.

OLD BUSINES:

LEGENDS: Heather Sparks stated the band made $3,200 for June. This was for working 11 games. The check also included the Red, White and Boom. For July the band averaged $3,100. This was for working 10 games.

GOLF SCRAMBLE – Went well. The Band made $1,037 after advertising.

WALKIE – TALKIE: Tamara stated we are still working on getting a walkie-talkie to use during Legend games.

KINGS ISLAND: The band is scheduled to perform in Mason, Ohio on Sat. Oct. 1st. This is a BOA competition. Tamara discussed the possibility of spending the night on Saturday and going to Kings Island on Sunday. Heather stated that currently the cheapest motel room she could locate was a Super 8 in Florence for 59.99 per night. The possibility of renting buses for this trip was discussed. Robert Eskridge stated he could get Kings Island tickets through Lexmark for $26.00 per ticket. After much discussion Tommie Greatbatch made a motion that the band should travel home after the BOA competition and not spend the night. The money not used for this trip could be put towards a possible trip to Florida during Spring Break. Bonnie Pigg second and the motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

LEGENDS: Tamara stated that breaks taken during the Legend games should only be 15 minutes. Heather has sign-up sheets for the remaining games in August and also for the games in September.

REMINDER: The first 2 football games will be played at Paris. The band will not be working concessions for these games. The BCHS athletic boosters will be working concessions. Tamara stated a special meeting will be held to discuss concessions for remaining football games.

National Rooms: (Advance Notice) This year the band will be staying at the Omni Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. BOA has assigned us to this hotel. The band will only be staying one night which will be Friday, November 11th. We will travel home on Saturday, November 12th. The cost of the rooms will be $147.00. This does NOT include the 17% tax. Parents will need to call and get their own rooms. The band will travel by charter buses to Indianapolis. Heather stated she contacted Miller Transportation for pricing. The cost will be $2,200 per bus and we will need 2 buses. Mr. Hale discussed the chance of 24 seats being open to parents that may want to pay and ride. This will be on a first come first serve basis. Tamara suggested taking a bus survey to see if there is a need for an additional bus. Will have more information and further discussion during September band meeting.

Marcie Newsome discussed selling butter braids. She wanted to know if this was something we wanted to do again. Heather Sparks discussed that Beverly Bales’ sister is offering the band the opportunity to sell mums again this year. The mums would cost $6.00 and could be sold for $12.00. The mums would need to be sold right now. Shawn Wrenn made a motion to sell the mums now and wait and sell the butter braids in November. Angela Sargent second and the motion carried.

Marcie Newsome also stated she contacted Mingua Brothers about purchasing beef jerky to be sold from the concession stand during football games. She stated a box would cost $32.00 and contained 32 pieces. There is no minimum about to purchase. Beth Plummer made a motion to go ahead and buy a box of beef jerky. Blair Rule second and the motion carried.

Stadium blankets are still available to purchase. The cost is $12.00. Please see Tamara, Heather or Mr. Hale if interested.
