There were no changes or additions; the report was approved
by common consent.
Old
Business:
Band Fee Proposal: We need to make a change in the Band Fee
Proposal that was voted on last month. The 2nd sentence of
the 3rd paragraph of the Proposal should have read, “Points
earned would go towards band instrument repair, and special
trips such as Florida, etc.” Barbara Rupard made the
motion, Kim Crowell 2nd and the motion passed.
Pie
Peddler: Pie sales ended last Friday (3-14-08). Tamara and
Kelly will be picking up the pies on March 29 and distributing
them.
Band
Contest for 08: Mr. Hale stated that we would not be holding
a band contest in the fall. Mid-States officials pick your
judges for you and he is concerned that they might choose
judges from California or Florida and we would have to fly
them in and pay for their hotels, etc. KMEA contests are plentiful
and we would be lucky to get 4 or 5 bands to come to our contest.
This may be something we could do in the future.
Mr.
Hale states that Marcus has agreed to our offer to work with
our guard (marching band and winter guard). He is planning
on moving to Paris soon.
Blair
had no report regarding the cleaning/waxing of the band trailer.
New
Business:
Senior Banquet: The banquet will be held on April 14, 2008
at 6:30 p.m. in the High School gym. The band will supply
meat, drinks, paper products and a small cake. The rest of
the dinner will be supplied by the Marching sections as follows:
Brass
section will bring vegetables
Flags
will bring salad and dressings
Woodwinds
will bring rolls or a side dish
Drum
Line will bring dessert
Pit
will bring side dish
Nominations
for Band Booster Officers: The floor was open for nominations,
and none were received. Existing officers were asked if they
would be willing to be nominated for another term. They all
agreed. Motion was made for nominations to cease by Mr. Hale,
2nd by James Arnold, motion carried. A motion was made by
Eddie McNutt and 2nd by Vicki Handy to elect the existing
officers in their current positions as follows:
President:
Tamara Johnson
Vice
President: Kelly McIntosh
Treasurer:
Barbara Rupard
Secretary:
Sarah Auvenshine
Motion
carried.
Tamara
would like to form a fund raising committee that would be
in charge of all non-Bingo related fund raisers. This would
allow for more fund raising so the kids could earn money for
their accounts. The committee would generate ideas and run
the fund raisers. No one volunteered. The committee was tabled
until next month.
Pam Roe said someone had approached her about making band
clings to sell. They can have 2 or 3 colors and would cling
to the outside of your car windows. The cost would be $10.00
with the band receiving a 30% profit.
’08
Yard Sale: Pam Roe said Johnny Plummer asked her if we were
planning on holding a yard sale this spring/summer. After
discussion, we decided that Pam will call Mr. Plummer and
tell him we will not be holding a yard sale in 2008.
Barbara Rupard said the baseball concession workers have asked
us to move our coolers and water/pop out of the concession
stand. It is in their way. Frankie and Barbara will take care
of this.
Mr. Hale said that spring trips are very expensive. We will
not be traveling this spring. He is considering a fall trip
for 2008. There is a band contest at Western Carolina University,
NC at the end of fall break. He thought we could travel to
Myrtle Beach, SC on 10-08-08, spend 2 days there then head
to the contest on 10-11-08. We would return home on 10-12-08.
Barbara Rupard moved to visit North and South Carolina over
fall break 2008, Vicki Handy 2nd, motion carried. KMEA State
Championships are November 1, 2008 in Louisville.
Marjorie Abney reported that the Evening with Arts will be
held March 26, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30. Homework passes will
be handed out, dinner is available and they be holding a raffle.
The kids that played in Solo and Ensemble will be performing
that evening. Everyone should come out!
Guy Bowman reported that the website has been updated.
Barbara Rupard stated that we may need to give some Bingo
Tuesdays to other organizations in the summer and during marching
season if we can’t get enough adult workers.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
The
next Bourbon Co. Band Booster meeting will be held on April
21st at 6:00 p.m. in the band room.
